Mangesh N. Kale’s compositions emerge out of the purely concrete and the purely formless and take a third direction that combines the tangible with the intangible. There’s another conflict that one comes across in Kale’s creation. He repeals the demarcation between the forms of human and animal bodies. Even so, his paintings are such that in the spectator’s mind they evoke the dual sentiments of infatuation and liberation, which ultimately dissolve in the sentiment of liberation.
