Description

Basant Bhargav takes inspiration from his name and celebrates ‘basant’, or the spring harvest season, in his paintings, which center on nature. His landscapes do not refer to any specific place but rather to those he has created with his active imagination. The artist paints what he feels about what he has seen. He is interested in the abstract formulation of forms, and in giving life to form through colour. Bhargav was born in 1974, and has worked on various themes through his artistic career, including the geographical diversity and beauty of his country, India. Created with the help of a palette knife and thick brushstrokes, his works give the impression that the colours on the surface have taken on a life of their own
