Kulhad Chai. Oil on canvas. Kulhad is the earthen tea (chai) cup made of baked clay. Once very common through out India and universally available with tea sellers at every railway station across India, over the years it has become increasingly rare, if not completely extinct. However, everyone in India who has travelled by train in the 90s would vouch by the charm and distinct taste of tea in a kulhad. This painting, part of my series on love of tea in India is a nostalgic revisit to the old memories.
